Zoo walk benefits hospice patients |
Title (Max 100 Characters)
More than 800 people were expected at a 2 1/2 mile walk at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo today in memory of loved ones.
Walk to Remember, a benefit for Hospice of the Western Reserve, also featured educational displays and entertainment activities including face painters, caricature artists and photo booths. The Burning River Roller Girls served as starters for the walk.
Funds will support special services provided by Hospice of the Western Reserve that are not fully covered by Medicare or insurance. These include care for pediatric patients, music, art and massage therapy, fulfilling special wishes for patients, and trauma and grief counseling in our local schools.
Walkers were encouraged to bring photos of loved ones to post on a special memory board.
